李腾，中山大学国际金融学院教授、学术部主任，中山大学高级金融研究院研究员，国家重大人才工程青年人才，中山大学“逸仙学者”、“百人计划”引进人才。主要的研究方向是环境、劳动与金融经济学。研究发表于Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Urban Economics, Journal of Environmental Economics and Management，Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes，Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, Regional Science and Urban Economics，《经济研究》《管理世界》《经济学（季刊）》和《世界经济》等国内外顶级经济金融学期刊，主持国家自然科学基金项目。担任《金融学季刊》编辑。曾荣获中国留美经济学年会邹至庄最佳论文奖、中山大学教师教学竞赛特等奖。

六、主讲内容简介

The well-documented positive correlation between education and demand for risky assets suggests that individuals’ at the upper half of the education distribution possibly exhibit a stronger demand for risky assets, while prior studies on the causal impact of education on individuals’ investment behavior rely on the implementation of compulsory school laws that only change the lower half of the education distribution. Apart from these studies, we take advantage of a natural experiment in China in 1999 to examine the impact of college education on individuals’ demand for risky assets. We employ a regression discontinuity design and show that college graduates affected by the college expansion are more likely to invest in risky assets and hold a higher proportion of risky assets. Our results also indicate that college education mainly takes effect by increasing graduates’ labor income and likelihood of city residence. Furthermore, we find that college education has an economically sizable spillover effect on the risky asset demand of non-college graduates. Overall, we provide causal evidence that higher education affects individuals’ demand for risky assets.
