UPNA: a bridge between China and Latin America through Spain
1. Reasons for Selecting the UPNA.
- UPNA is among the top Spanish Universities (Rankings published in Spain in 2008). The majority of its faculties offer PhD and Master programs, and possesses first-class service facilities and highly-qualified lecturers and professors. UPNA has a large experience in education in international trade management since 1988, offering a highly reputed degree.
- The Master of International Trade will provide expertise in three languages: Chinese, Spanish and English. In UPNA, the courses will be in Spanish, allowing the students to obtain a good command of the third language in world. There will be a possibility of additional language lessons (Spanish and English).
- In recent years, business between China, Spain and Latin American countries has been developing extremely fast. There is a huge demand for business people with Spanish language skills and a good knowledge of European and Latin American culture.
- Students will have opportunities for work practice in companies for 6 months.
- Other reasons that make the project attractive are derived from the location of UPNA in the North of Spain, near France, being one of the most economically developed regions of Spain and Europe. The Kingdom of Navarra is well known for its long history and ancient culture. The city of Pamplona has many gardens and green areas, in which you will feel safe and comfortable. UPNA is in the south of Pamplona, and it has very convenient traffic connections to the city center and other districts. From the campus to the city center (Castle Plaza), it is no more than half an hour on foot.
2. Reasons for the UPNA selecting the School of International Trade & Economics, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies.
- Guangdong University of Foreign Studies has adopted the slogan “Learn from both East and West, moral integrity and direct behavior”. It is a famous cradle of learning, where complex and capable persons are educated.
- School of International Trade & Economics is the largest college in Guangdong University of Foreign Studies. It is also a base which receives international business and trading people.
- The school offers education for all-around development, and innovative, practical and internationalized education favoring modern methods. In accordance with current business and trade methods, the school’s education uses the case method. At present, the school is building up the special mode of receiving high quality international business people.
- The school possesses excellent quality teachers with ample educational experience and academic results.
- The graduate specialties are connected with international experiences in the school. The school is now eligible to award Masters in the fields of international trade, area economy and world economy. The degrees are ratified by international Universities.

4. Flexible and applied model
- Combines the advantages of professors and education from two Universities and countries. It adopts cooperative education with credits awarded by both Universities.
- The project duration is two years (one year in GUFS and the other year UPNA), including 90 credits or 110 credits. The students are required to gain 30 – 50 credits in GUFS and 60 credits in Pamplona.
- In the first year, the students are required to pass three core courses (30 credits); others are Spanish courses (20 credits).
5. Courses in GUFS.
In GUFS the students must pass three core courses in the field of international trade, including Microeconomics, Macroeconomics and Theory of International Trade. In addition, GUFS gives Spanish and English courses, including 8 classes of grammar, 4 classes of listening, 2 classes of dialog (by native teachers) and 2 classes of comprehensive exercises each week. The classes can be adjusted according to real requirements.
6. Student qualifications.
- The year’s undergraduates, or new graduates (no limit at faculties)
- After 6 months or one year, as soon as they have passed the core courses, the students can apply for a visa and enter the UPNA for the rest of their studies.
- Please present the necessary certificates and documents (school report card and Bachelor diploma).
7. Enrollment time at GUFS.
- The first year: September, 2009 enrollment in GUFS; July, 2010 end of course in GUFS;
September, 2010 enrollment in UPNA.
- The second year: March, 2010 enrollment in GUFS; July, 2010 end of course in GUFS;
September 2010 enrollment in UPNA.
- The first course is for the Spanish language beginner; the second course is for students with at least one year of studying Spanish as their second foreign language.

- Full-time classes from Monday to Friday
9. Tuition and fees
- In GUFS, the tuition is 22000RMB for six months, or 42000RMB for one year, not including lodging and maintenance costs.
- In UPNA, the tuition is 10,000 Euros for one year; the lodging and maintenance are around 8,000 Euros. The cost in UPNA includes studies for the Master degree, Spanish courses, English courses; students will have access to the University services such as the library, sport facilities, dining-room, information on accommodation, attendance at various academic and cultural activities.
